Lifecycle Status: Obsolete / Discontinued
Description: 5–34V, 45A high-current smart high-side power switch with 2.5mΩ typical on-resistance
RFQ

The BTS555 is a protected high-side power switch developed for switching high-current automotive and industrial loads. It integrates a low-resistance power MOSFET with protection and diagnostic functions, reducing the need for external protection circuitry.

The device has been widely used in legacy automotive electrical systems, motors, heaters, lamps, relays and other high-current loads.

Infineon has confirmed that BTS555 is obsolete and will not return to production.

BTS555 Replacement

There is currently no direct pin-to-pin replacement for BTS555.

Infineon previously suggested BTS441RG as an alternative for new designs with open-load protection, but it is not a drop-in replacement.

The newer BTH50015-1LUA may also be considered for some high-current applications, but its electrical behavior and protection thresholds differ significantly from BTS555. Infineon specifically notes that it should not automatically be treated as a direct replacement and does not recommend simply paralleling devices to reproduce the previous BTS555 current capability.

Therefore, replacement selection should consider:

Load current · startup current · inductive load behavior · protection thresholds · package · PCB layout · thermal performance

For legacy designs where redesign is undesirable, sourcing original BTS555 parts may remain the simplest option.

FAQ

Is BTS555 discontinued?

Yes. Infineon has confirmed that BTS555 is obsolete and permanently discontinued.

What is the BTS555 operating voltage?

The operating voltage range is 5V to 34V.

What is the BTS555 nominal load current?

The nominal load current is 45A.

What is the BTS555 on-resistance?

Typical RDS(on) is approximately 2.5mΩ, making it suitable for high-current switching applications.

Is there a direct replacement for BTS555?

No. Infineon has stated that there is currently no pin-to-pin equivalent for BTS555. Alternative devices must be evaluated according to the actual load and circuit requirements.
