Vishay VCNL4200 Long Distance Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor
The VCNL4200 from Vishay is an advanced optical sensing solution that combines a long-range proximity sensor (PS), ambient light sensor (ALS), and integrated 940 nm infrared emitter (IRED) into a compact surface-mount package. Designed for industrial, consumer, and smart-building applications, the device delivers accurate proximity detection and ambient light measurement through a simple I²C interface.
With a detection range of up to 1.5 meters, high ambient light immunity, and Vishay's proprietary Filtron™ technology, the VCNL4200 offers reliable performance even behind dark or low-transmittance covers and lenses.

Ambient Light Sensing Performance
The integrated ALS uses Vishay's patented Filtron™ technology to closely match the spectral response of the human eye. This enables accurate brightness measurements for automatic lighting control and display brightness adjustment.
