  ITT Cannon CGE VG96929 High-Power Connectors

  The ITT Cannon CGE Series is a range of single-pole circular connectors developed for high-current, low-voltage power transmission. Derived from the VG95234 reverse-bayonet connector design, the CGE Series is fully approved to the European VG96929 military standard and is designed for demanding military vehicle, heavy equipment and industrial power applications.

  With rugged aluminum shells, high-conductivity contacts and a fast quarter-turn coupling system, CGE connectors provide secure electrical connections in environments exposed to vibration, moisture and extreme temperatures.

The actual current rating must be selected according to cable size, contact size and ambient-temperature derating. At an ambient temperature of 125°C, ITT Cannon specifies maximum current ratings ranging from 100 A for the H2 contact to 425 A for the H24 contact.

Rugged Construction for Harsh Environments

CGE connectors use two PTFE insulators and a spring-retention system that permits contact replacement while maintaining reliable mechanical retention. Copper or copper-alloy contacts with hard-silver finishes provide low contact resistance for high-current transmission.

Available shell finishes include VG-approved cadmium plating and RoHS-compatible zinc-cobalt or zinc-nickel alternatives. Depending on the selected finish, salt-spray resistance can reach up to 500 hours. The connectors are also tested for vibration at frequencies from 10 Hz to 2,000 Hz.

How to Select an ITT Cannon CGE Connector

When selecting a CGE connector, consider the required cable cross-section, continuous current, short-time current load, mounting style, contact gender, termination method and shell finish.

The operating voltage specified in the CGE catalog is limited to 50 VAC or 75 VDC under the European Low Voltage Directive. Current capability must also be evaluated using the ITT Cannon derating curves rather than selecting a connector only by its maximum headline current.
