The Herotek LS01018, LS1018 and LS1118 are low-leakage PIN diode RF limiters designed to protect sensitive LNAs and receiver front ends from excessive RF power.

All three models operate up to 18GHz and support 1W CW and 200W peak input power. Their main differences are the lower operating frequency, insertion loss and maximum leakage level. The LS01018 provides the widest coverage from 100MHz, the LS1018 starts at 1GHz with slightly lower insertion loss, and the LS1118 is optimized for 11–18GHz receiver systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main difference between LS01018 and LS1018?

The LS01018 operates from 100MHz to 18GHz, while the LS1018 operates from 1GHz to 18GHz. The LS1018 also has a slightly lower maximum insertion loss of 2.0dB compared with 2.2dB for the LS01018.

How does LS1118 differ from LS1018?

The LS1118 covers 11–18GHz and has a maximum leakage level of +13dBm. The LS1018 covers the wider 1–18GHz range with a maximum leakage level of +14dBm.

Which model is suitable for Ku-band receiver protection?

The LS1118 is the most targeted option for 11–18GHz systems. The LS1018 can also be used when broader 1–18GHz coverage is required.

What input power can these limiters handle?

The LS01018, LS1018 and LS1118 support 1W CW and 200W peak input power under the pulse conditions specified by Herotek.

What is the typical limiting threshold?

All three models have a typical limiting threshold of +6dBm.

Can these limiters protect every LNA?

Compatibility depends on the LNA damage threshold, incident pulse characteristics, leakage requirement and complete receiver design. These values should be checked before selecting a limiter.
