Delta PFB Series High-Pressure Cooling Fans | Selection Guide
Delta PFB Series Overview
The DELTA fans PFB Series is a family of high-performance DC axial fans developed for equipment with restricted airflow paths and high heat density.
Compared with general-purpose cooling fans, PFB models typically use a thicker 38 mm frame, higher rotational speed and a more powerful motor to generate greater airflow and static pressure. They are commonly installed in servers, storage systems, telecom equipment, industrial power supplies and other systems containing dense heat sinks, drive cages, filters or narrow ventilation channels.
Key characteristics of the Delta PFB Series include:
High airflow for rapid heat removal
High static pressure for restrictive system airflow
12 VDC, 24 VDC and 48 VDC options
Common frame sizes from 60 mm to 120 mm
Tachometer, protection-grade and other configuration options
Ball-bearing construction for continuous operation
Suitable for high-density electronic equipment
Because many PFB models operate at high speed, engineers should also evaluate power consumption, starting current, acoustic noise and vibration before final selection.

Application Industries
AI, GPU and High-Density Servers
GPU servers and high-performance computing platforms contain dense heat sinks, accelerator cards and restricted airflow channels. PFB fans provide the static pressure required to move cooling air through these high-resistance structures.
Typical equipment includes:
AI training servers
GPU computing nodes
High-density rack servers
Edge computing systems
Server CPU and accelerator cooling modules
Data Storage Systems
Storage equipment often requires air to pass through multiple hard drives, SSD cages, backplanes and controller boards. High-pressure PFB fans help maintain airflow across the complete drive array rather than only around the fan outlet.
Typical applications include:
RAID storage arrays
NAS and SAN systems
Disk expansion enclosures
Enterprise backup appliances
High-density HDD and SSD systems
Networking and Telecommunications
Routers, switches and telecom devices commonly use narrow front-to-rear airflow paths. PFB fans can overcome the resistance created by densely installed ports, boards, heat sinks and internal partitions.
Typical applications include:
Core network switches
Enterprise routers
Telecom base-station equipment
Optical transmission systems
Network security appliances
Industrial and Power Electronics
The PFB Series is also suitable for equipment containing high-power semiconductors, transformers or densely arranged electronic components.
Typical applications include:
Industrial power supplies
Inverters and converters
UPS systems
Battery charging equipment
Automation controllers
Test and measurement systems
Semiconductor equipment
For dusty or humid operating environments, engineers can consider protection-rated configurations such as the PFB0912EHE-T500, subject to confirmation of the complete model specification.
