Delta High Static Pressure Fans for GPU and AI Servers
Delta High Static Pressure Fans for GPU and AI Servers
GPU and AI servers contain high-power processors, accelerator cards, memory modules, power converters and dense heat sinks within a restricted chassis. Moving a large volume of air in free space is not enough; the fan must maintain useful airflow after overcoming the pressure loss created by the complete server.
Delta offers high-static-pressure server fans in its PFR, PFB, GFB, FFB and QFR families. These include compact 38 mm fans for conventional fan walls and deeper PFB-E and GFB-E models for systems with exceptionally high airflow resistance.

Why AI Servers Need High Static Pressure
Cooling air in a GPU server may need to pass through:
Front-panel grilles
Dust or EMI screens
HDD and SSD cages
Accelerator cards
Dense CPU and GPU heat sinks
DIMM banks
Power converters
Server backplanes
Cable assemblies
Restricted rear outlets
Every obstruction creates pressure loss. As system resistance increases, the airflow delivered by a general-purpose fan can fall substantially below its free-air CFM rating.
A high-static-pressure fan uses its impeller, motor torque and frame design to maintain airflow against this resistance. This is particularly important in compact 1U and 2U servers where small fans must operate at high speed.

Delta PFR Fans for GPU Servers
The PFR Series provides high airflow and static pressure in commonly used 38 mm frame depths. It is suitable for servers that require strong cooling without the additional depth of an 80 mm fan assembly.
PFR0612XHE-SP00
PFR0612XHE-SP00 is a 60 × 60 × 38 mm fan providing 76.16 CFM and 3.185 inH₂O. Its compact dimensions and high speed make it suitable for dense server chassis where airflow must pass through narrow component channels.
Typical uses include:
Compact GPU nodes
1U server platforms
Server power modules
High-density storage controllers
Localized accelerator cooling
PFR0812XHE-SP00
PFR0812XHE-SP00 uses an 80 × 80 × 38 mm frame and provides 134.29 CFM with 3.000 inH₂O static pressure.
It offers a useful balance between fan diameter, airflow and pressure for:
GPU compute servers
Multi-accelerator systems
Storage and AI inference appliances
Network computing platforms
Dense 2U chassis
PFR0912XHE-SP00
PFR0912XHE-SP00 provides 185.55 CFM in a 92 × 92 × 38 mm frame. Its larger diameter supports higher airflow while maintaining 2.523 inH₂O maximum pressure.
It can be considered for:
Larger GPU servers
AI training nodes
High-performance computing systems
Storage servers with restrictive drive cages
Rear fan-wall cooling
PFR1212DHE-SP00
PFR1212DHE-SP00 provides 254.34 CFM from a 120 × 120 × 38 mm frame. It is suitable for larger chassis where a 120 mm fan can be accommodated and high total airflow is required.
The 4-wire SP00 configuration provides tachometer feedback and PWM speed control, allowing the server controller to adjust fan speed according to thermal load.
Delta PFB-E Fans for Higher System Resistance
Delta’s E Series is designed for next-generation server architectures and power modules requiring increased static-pressure performance.
PFB0812EE-E uses an 80 × 80 × 80 mm frame and provides:
129.56 CFM airflow
6.010 inH₂O static pressure
16,800 RPM speed
48 W rated power
Tachometer feedback
PWM control
Compared with a conventional 38 mm fan, the deeper frame requires substantially more installation space. It should be considered when the chassis can accommodate 80 mm depth and the system pressure requirement exceeds the capability of a standard fan wall.
Delta GFB-E Fans for Extreme Pressure
GFB-E models provide very high static pressure in 40 mm, 60 mm and 92 mm frame sizes with a 56 mm depth.
GFB0612ES-E reaches a maximum static pressure of 9.730 inH₂O while maintaining 76.51 CFM free-air flow. This makes it suitable for compact systems with exceptionally restrictive airflow paths.
Potential applications include:
High-density server blades
Compact accelerator modules
High-impedance heat sinks
Power modules
Restricted GPU airflow channels
Next-generation computing platforms
The additional pressure comes with higher power consumption and acoustic noise. GFB0612ES-E is rated at 49.8 W and 82 dB(A), so the power circuit, mechanical structure and operating environment must be designed accordingly.
Can a Lower-Pressure Fan Replace a High-Pressure Server Fan?
A lower-pressure fan may have the same dimensions, voltage and connector but still provide insufficient airflow at the server operating point.
Possible results include:
GPU temperature increase
Processor thermal throttling
Memory or VRM overheating
Higher speed demand from the remaining fans
Fan alarms
Reduced system reliability
Emergency shutdown
Replacement should be based on the complete pressure–airflow curve, not only the frame size or free-air CFM.
