5MV500 Pico 5V to 500V Military DC-DC Converter | −55°C to +85°C
Manufacturer: Pico Electronics, Inc.
Package/Case: Through-Hole 5-Pin Encapsulated Module, 1.28 × 0.55 × 0.40 in
Description: 1.25W isolated proportional DC-DC converter with 4.5V to 5.5V input, 500V single output and −55°C to +85°C operating temperature range.
The Pico Electronics 5MV500 is an ultra-miniature, isolated high-voltage DC-DC converter designed to convert a nominal 5V input into a proportional 500V single output. It delivers up to 2.5mA and 1.25W while operating across a standard temperature range of −55°C to +85°C.
As part of Pico Electronics’ MV Series, the 5MV500 incorporates selected high-reliability and MIL-screened components. Its compact through-hole package makes it suitable for military/COTS electronics, aerospace subsystems, instrumentation and other space-constrained high-voltage applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Pico 5MV500 a regulated converter?
No. The 5MV500 is an unregulated proportional converter. Its output voltage varies with input voltage and load conditions.
What is the input voltage range of the 5MV500?
The current MV Series datasheet specifies a 4.5V to 5.5V input range for nominal 5V models.
Is the 5MV500 electrically isolated?
Yes. It provides 1000V DC input-to-output isolation.
Is the 5MV500 a fully military-qualified converter?
The MV Series uses selected MIL-screened and high-reliability components and operates from −55°C to +85°C. Full qualification or additional screening depends on the ordered configuration and should be confirmed before purchase.
Does the 5MV500 require external components?
Yes. Pico specifies a 0.1µF, 1kV-rated capacitor across the output. A minimum load of approximately 0.25mA should also be maintained to reduce the risk of excessive output voltage.
