The Texas Instruments DS320PR810 is an eight-channel linear redriver designed for PCIe 5.0, CXL 2.0 and UPI 2.0 interfaces operating at data rates up to 32Gbps. It uses programmable continuous-time linear equalization (CTLE) to compensate for high-frequency signal loss caused by PCB traces, connectors and other interconnects.
With up to 22dB CTLE boost at 16GHz, approximately 100ps latency and a single 3.3V supply, the DS320PR810 is suitable for high-speed servers, PCIe riser cards, storage systems and network interface cards.

Both versions use the same device and package. The principal ordering difference is the tape-and-reel quantity. Confirm the complete orderable number, required quantity, inventory and lead time before purchasing.
CTLE Equalization and PCIe Gen5 Channel Loss
At PCIe 5.0 data rates, PCB trace attenuation, connectors and discontinuities can reduce signal integrity. The DS320PR810 uses continuous-time linear equalization to boost attenuated high-frequency signal components before forwarding them through a linear output stage.
The device provides up to 22dB high-frequency boost at 16GHz. However, engineers should not assume that the maximum CTLE setting always provides the best signal quality.
Before selecting equalization settings, verify:
Channel insertion loss: Evaluate PCB trace, connector and cable losses at the target data rate.
Equalization: Select CTLE and gain settings based on channel measurements and system requirements.
Signal integrity: Check eye opening, return loss, jitter and inter-symbol interference.
PCB placement: Position the redriver according to the loss distribution along the complete signal path.
Link training: Validate PCIe Gen5 link training and receiver performance with the actual endpoint devices.
TI provides redriver tuning guidance and evaluation boards for signal integrity testing.
Eight Channels and PCIe x4 / x8 / x16 Design
The DS320PR810 contains eight unidirectional linear channels. A PCIe lane uses separate transmit and receive differential pairs, so one DS320PR810 can support four bidirectional PCIe lanes.
| PCIe Link Width | Typical Device Count |
|---|---|
| PCIe x4 | 1 × DS320PR810 |
| PCIe x8 | 2 × DS320PR810 |
| PCIe x16 | 4 × DS320PR810 |
These configurations assume redriving both transmission directions across all lanes. Actual component placement and lane routing depend on the system architecture.
DS320PR810 Redriver vs PCIe Retimer
The DS320PR810 is a linear redriver, not a PCIe retimer. It provides analog signal equalization while preserving the transmitter characteristics used during PCIe link training.
A PCIe retimer instead recovers and retransmits the signal using clock and data recovery circuitry. Retimers may be appropriate for different channel architectures and reach requirements.
Choose a redriver when analog equalization can meet the system signal-integrity budget. Evaluate a retimer when additional signal regeneration is required.
The DS320PR810 does not provide PCIe switching, lane expansion or packet routing functionality.
Configuration and PCB Design
The DS320PR810 supports pin-strap, SMBus and EEPROM configuration. Engineers can configure equalization and other device settings according to the system design.
For reliable operation:
Use a properly decoupled 3.3V supply.
Maintain controlled-impedance differential PCB routing.
Minimize discontinuities around vias, connectors and AC-coupling capacitors.
Verify PCIe receiver-detection behavior and device configuration.
Follow TI's recommended layout and thermal-pad grounding requirements.
