TPSM831D31 120A + 40A PMBus Power Module | FPGA Power
Manufacturer: Texas Instruments
Package/Case: 28-Pin QFM (MOA), 48mm × 15mm × 12mm
Description: 8V–14V input, dual-output 120A + 40A PMBus power module for FPGA, ASIC and high-performance processor rails.
The TPSM831D31 integrates a D-CAP+ controller, four Smart Power Stages and low-loss inductors into a thermally enhanced surface-mount package.
Its four power phases are divided between two independent outputs:
Output A: Three-phase rail delivering up to 120A
Output B: Single-phase rail delivering up to 40A
This architecture allows one module to power two low-voltage, high-current loads, such as an FPGA core rail and an auxiliary, I/O or processor subsystem rail.

FAQ
What input voltage does TPSM831D31 require?
The recommended operating input range is 8V to 14V. It is primarily intended for regulated 12V power-bus systems.
Can both outputs deliver their rated currents simultaneously?
The module is designed with a 120A three-phase output and a 40A single-phase output. Actual simultaneous capability depends on output voltages, ambient temperature, airflow and PCB thermal design.
What is the output-voltage range?
Both outputs are independently programmable from 0.25V to 1.52V in 5mV steps.
Does TPSM831D31 support PMBus telemetry?
Yes. It can report input voltage, output voltage, output current, temperature, input power and output power through PMBus.
Are the inductors integrated?
Yes. The controller, four Smart Power Stages and low-loss power inductors are integrated. External input and output capacitors and several passive components are still required.
Is TPSM831D31 suitable for FPGA core rails?
Yes. Its high output current, fast transient response, remote sensing and programmable voltage make it suitable for high-current FPGA and ASIC core rails.
