UMS QFN LNA Selection: CHA1252-QDG, CHA2050-QDG, CHA1351-QAG and CHA1452-QDG
The CHA1252-QDG, CHA2050-QDG, CHA1351-QAG and CHA1452-QDG are packaged UMS low-noise amplifiers covering receiver applications from Ku-Band through Q-Band.
All four use GaAs pHEMT technology and are supplied in surface-mount QFN packages. The main selection factors are operating frequency, noise figure, gain, output compression and package size.

Which UMS QFN LNA Should You Choose?
CHA1252-QDG for Ku-Band Receivers
The CHA1252-QDG is the appropriate choice for Ku-Band satellite receivers and microwave front ends. It provides the highest output-compression level in this group while maintaining low noise and high gain.
Its coverage overlaps the lower end of the CHA2050-QDG, making it preferable when the receiver must extend below K-Band.
CHA2050-QDG for K-Band and Satcom
The CHA2050-QDG extends the same low-noise, high-gain architecture into K-Band. It is intended for Satcom receivers and other microwave systems requiring a packaged LNA above the Ku-Band range.
Choose this model when the operating band crosses the upper Ku-Band and lower K-Band region.
CHA1351-QAG for Compact Ka-Band Front Ends
The CHA1351-QAG is the most compact device in the group and is suited to Ka-Band receivers, phased arrays and dense multichannel front ends.
It is the better option for systems that prioritize low noise and reduced PCB area within the Ka-Band frequency range. UMS also positions it for space and general microwave applications.
CHA1452-QDG for Higher-Frequency Coverage
The CHA1452-QDG provides the widest upper-frequency coverage and is intended for Q-Band and broadband millimeter-wave receiver systems.
Compared with the lower-frequency models, it trades some gain and noise performance for operation across a much higher frequency range. Because it is currently published as Advanced Information, qualification samples and production timing should be confirmed before design-in.
Typical Applications
Satellite communication receiver front ends
Ku-, K-, Ka- and Q-Band microwave links
Phased-array and multichannel receivers
Frequency converters and radio terminals
Aerospace and space communication systems
Microwave and millimeter-wave test equipment
The CHA1252-QDG and CHA2050-QDG mainly address Ku/K-Band Satcom receivers, while the CHA1351-QAG and CHA1452-QDG extend packaged low-noise amplification into Ka- and Q-Band systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between CHA1252-QDG and CHA2050-QDG?
They offer similar gain, noise figure and bias requirements, but cover different frequency ranges. The CHA1252-QDG targets Ku-Band, while the CHA2050-QDG extends into K-Band.
2. Which model should be used in the 17–18GHz overlap region?
Both CHA1252-QDG and CHA2050-QDG cover this region. Selection should be based on the complete receiver bandwidth, matching performance and availability rather than the overlap alone.
3. Which model is better for the 30–32GHz range?
Both CHA1351-QAG and CHA1452-QDG cover this band. The CHA1351-QAG offers higher gain and lower noise, while the CHA1452-QDG is preferable when the same design must operate beyond 32GHz.
4. Are the four UMS LNAs pin-compatible?
No. Package dimensions, pin assignments, bias connections and RF layouts differ. The PCB design must be checked against the datasheet for the selected model.
5. Is CHA1452-QDG ready for volume production?
UMS currently identifies the CHA1452-QDG as an Advanced Information product. Sample status, final datasheet revision and production lead time should therefore be confirmed before committing to a production design.
