ITT Cannon MDM Micro-D MIL-DTL-83513 Selection Guide

ITT Cannon MDM is a metal-shell Micro-D connector series designed for aerospace, defense, space, avionics, instrumentation and other applications where connector size, weight and reliability are critical.

The MDM series uses contacts on a 0.050-inch (1.27 mm) pitch and is available with 9 to 100 signal contacts. Compared with standard D-sub connectors, MDM connectors provide higher contact density in a much smaller enclosure while retaining metal-shell protection, positive polarization and locking hardware.

The series includes factory-wired connectors, solder-pot connectors and straight or right-angle PCB versions. Selected configurations are available under MIL-DTL-83513 military specifications.

ITT Cannon MDM Contact Arrangements

The contact count determines the connector shell size and available circuit capacity.

Contact countTypical applications
9Sensors, serial communication and compact control interfaces
15Avionics modules, test instruments and navigation equipment
21Monitoring systems and mixed control signals
25High-density equipment I/O
31Guidance, radar and communication systems
37Aircraft wiring and industrial control equipment
51Large signal harnesses and test systems
100Maximum-density signal interconnection

The current catalog ordering table also lists a 69-contact arrangement. Availability, qualification and mechanical dimensions should be confirmed before placing an order.

ITT Cannon also offers selected Micro-D arrangements combining signal contacts with coaxial or power contacts. These configurations require the complete contact layout and termination requirements to be specified.
