Delta PFR1212UHE-SP00 12V High-Airflow PWM Cooling Fan

The PFR1212UHE-SP00 is a high-performance DC axial fan from Delta Electronics’ PFR series. It features a standard 120 × 120 × 38mm frame, a rated voltage of 12V DC and a maximum speed of 6,600 RPM.

The fan delivers up to 228.65 CFM airflow and 1.206 inchH₂O static pressure, making it suitable for servers, storage systems, telecom equipment and industrial electronics with high heat density or restrictive airflow paths.

The SP00 version uses four lead wires and supports both PWM speed control and tachometer speed feedback. This enables the host controller to adjust cooling performance according to system temperature while monitoring fan operation.

The airflow and static-pressure specifications are maximum values measured at different points on the fan performance curve. Actual airflow depends on the resistance of the complete cooling system, including heat sinks, filters, grilles, cables and ventilation channels.

Typical Applications

The Delta PFR1212UHE-SP00 can be used in:

  • AI, GPU and high-density computing servers

  • Enterprise servers and data-center equipment

  • RAID, NAS and disk-array storage systems

  • Network switches and telecom equipment

  • Industrial computers and edge servers

  • Power supplies, rectifiers and electronic loads

  • Battery energy-storage control systems

  • Automation and test equipment

  • High-density electronic cabinets

  • Temperature-controlled cooling systems

PWM Speed Control and Tachometer Feedback

The PFR1212UHE-SP00 provides two separate system-management functions:

  • PWM control: Allows the host controller to adjust fan speed according to temperature or workload.

  • Tachometer feedback: Provides a speed signal for fan monitoring, fault detection and system alarms.

PWM control can reduce unnecessary power consumption and acoustic noise when full cooling performance is not required. Under high thermal load, the controller can increase fan speed to improve airflow.

The controller’s PWM voltage, frequency and logic requirements must match the fan specification. Connector type and pin assignment should also be confirmed before installation.

Cooling Performance

With maximum airflow of 228.65 CFM and maximum static pressure of 30.636mmH₂O, the PFR1212UHE-SP00 is designed for cooling restrictive equipment structures containing:

  • Dense heat-sink fins

  • Multiple server drive bays

  • Air filters and protective grilles

  • Closely spaced circuit boards

  • Cable bundles and narrow air channels

  • High-power processors, GPUs and power modules

For systems with substantial airflow resistance, static-pressure capability is as important as free-air airflow. A lower-pressure fan with the same frame size may not provide sufficient airflow after installation.

Power Supply and Noise Considerations

The fan draws 2.70A and consumes approximately 32.40W at its rated operating point. The 12V power supply, PCB traces, wiring and connector must support the fan’s operating current and startup requirements.

With a specified noise level of 65.5dB(A), this model is intended primarily for server rooms, data centers, telecom installations and industrial equipment. It is generally not suitable for noise-sensitive office or consumer applications.

PFR1212UHE-SP00 Replacement Selection

Before replacing the PFR1212UHE-SP00, confirm the following parameters:

  1. Complete part number: PFR1212UHE-SP00

  2. Rated voltage: 12V DC

  3. Operating voltage range: 8.0–13.2V DC

  4. Frame size: 120 × 120 × 38mm

  5. Rated current: 2.70A

  6. Four-wire PWM and tachometer interface

  7. Airflow and static-pressure requirements

  8. Connector type and pin sequence

  9. Wire length and mounting dimensions

  10. Airflow direction and installation orientation

A fan with the same dimensions and voltage is not automatically a direct replacement. Differences in current, pressure, PWM interface, tachometer signal, connector and pin assignment can affect equipment operation.

The SP00 suffix is important because it identifies the PWM-controlled configuration. Do not substitute a two-wire or three-wire version unless the host equipment does not require PWM control and the electrical interface has been verified.
