KRYTAR 2610 1–26.5GHz 10dB Directional Coupler

Mfr. Part #: 2610

Manufacturer: KRYTAR, Inc.

Product Type: Ultra-Broadband Directional Coupler

Frequency Range: 1.0GHz to 26.5GHz
Nominal Coupling: 10dB
Standard Connector: 3.5mm Female
Description: Compact stripline directional coupler with 10dB nominal coupling, low coupling variation and broadband L- through K-band operation.

RFQ

The KRYTAR 2610 is a four-port directional coupler covering the 1.0 to 26.5GHz frequency range. Its broadband coverage includes the L, S, C, X, Ku and K microwave bands, allowing one component to support multiple RF test and system-monitoring requirements.

With 10dB nominal coupling and ±0.5dB frequency sensitivity, the 2610 provides a relatively strong and stable coupled signal for power monitoring, signal sampling, source leveling and swept RF measurements. The connectorized stripline design uses standard 3.5mm female interfaces and supports 20W average input power.

Selecting a 10dB Directional Coupler

The KRYTAR 2610 couples approximately one-tenth of the main-line RF power to the coupled port under nominal conditions. This produces a higher coupled-port signal than a 20dB or 30dB coupler.

The 10dB coupling level is suitable when the measurement instrument or monitoring circuit requires a relatively strong sample signal. Before selection, verify that the coupled output will remain within the maximum input-power rating of the connected power meter, spectrum analyzer, detector or receiver.

The actual measurement level must account for coupling tolerance, frequency sensitivity, cable loss and connector loss. Any unused port should be terminated with an appropriate 50Ω load.

The 2606, 2610, 2620 and 2630 cover the same basic frequency range but use different coupling levels. They should not be treated as direct replacements without checking coupled-port power, insertion loss, directivity and system calibration.

KRYTAR 2610 vs 2630

The KRYTAR 2610 and 2630 both operate from 1.0 to 26.5GHz and use 3.5mm connectors. Their main difference is the coupling factor:

  • The 2610 provides 10dB coupling and a stronger sampled signal.

  • The 2630 provides 30dB coupling and a weaker sampled signal.

  • The 2610 is generally selected for lower-power signals or when greater measurement sensitivity is required.

  • The 2630 is better suited to higher-power signal monitoring where additional attenuation is needed.

The final choice should be based on the expected main-line power and the allowable input range of the connected measurement equipment.
