Applications
The Pico 12AVR500 is suitable for low-current circuits requiring an isolated and regulated 500V supply, including:
Photomultiplier Tubes (PMTs): High-voltage bias for light detection and measurement circuits.
Detector Bias Supplies: Stable high-voltage supply for compatible sensor and detector systems.
Electron-Beam Equipment: Deflection and focusing voltage circuits.
Piezoelectric Transducers: High-voltage supply applications within the specified current and power limits.
Test Instruments: Compact 500V bias generation for measurement equipment.
When to Choose the Pico 12AVR500
Choose the 12AVR500 when your design requires:
A regulated 500V output from a nominal 12V power rail.
Up to 2mA output current with no minimum load requirement.
Compact through-hole mounting with 1500VDC input/output isolation.
Unlike proportional-output converters, the AVR series regulates its high-voltage output across the specified input and load ranges.
For noise-sensitive circuits, engineers should verify output ripple, switching frequency, grounding and any additional filtering requirements.
Related Pico 500V DC-DC Converter Comparison
| Model | Input Range | Output | Power | Output Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5AVR500 | 4.5–5.5V | 500V / 2mA | 1W | Regulated |
| 12AVR500 | 10.5–13.5V | 500V / 2mA | 1W | Regulated |
| 24AVR500 | 21–27V | 500V / 2mA | 1W | Regulated |
| 28AVR500 | 25–32V | 500V / 2mA | 1W | Regulated |
All four models provide the same nominal 500V regulated output. The primary selection difference is the available DC input voltage.
12AVR500 Replacement and Alternatives
If 12AVR500 is unavailable or your system requirements have changed, consider other Pico AVR models with the appropriate input voltage.
12AVR500 vs 5AVR500: Both provide regulated 500V output at up to 1W, but the 12AVR500 requires a nominal 12V input while the 5AVR500 operates from a nominal 5V rail.
12AVR500 vs 12AV500: The 12AVR500 is regulated, while the 12AV500 belongs to the proportional-output AV family. They should not be treated as electrically interchangeable without reviewing output regulation, ripple, pin configuration and package dimensions.
Before replacing a high-voltage converter, verify input voltage, output current, regulation accuracy, isolation, pinout, mounting and operating temperature.
